Salvation

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

WE UNDERSTAND THAT TO BE SAVED MEANS;

Saved From Our Sins

Saved from our Sins (When we are saved, we no longer have to pay the price for the sins that we have inherited or that we have committed)

Saved From Our Enemies

Saved from our Enemies (spiritual enemies often try to confuse and distract us, but Greater is He (Jesus Christ) that is in us, than he (Satan and his demons) that is in the World!!!

Saved from Eternal Damnation

Saved from Eternal Damnation (since we no longer have to pay the price for our sins (i.e., go to Hell for our sins), we can have fellowship with God and serve with Him in eternity!!!)

STEPS OF SALVATION:

Recognize that you are a sinner:

The Word of God Declares "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23.

The fact that we are "good" people or that we "don't do anything to harm others" is not enough to make us right with God. We have to fully recognize that without Christ, we are all guilty in the sight of God. Knowing that, we can realize that by our very nature we are sinful.

Repent (Turn Away) From Your Sins and Accept Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior:

"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth" Luke 15:10.

God repeatedly calls for His people to repent (have a Godly sorrow) and turn away from the things that separate us from Him. When we do this we express to God that we are not happy living in a sin state. By doing this we are rejecting our own ways and ideas and we become open to God's ways and His ideas about how we should live. When we do this we should be ready to:

Be Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the Remission of Your Sins:

"...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38.

Baptism is both a right and a responsibility for believers. Jesus said that he that believed and is baptized shall be saved (Mark 16:16). Romans 6:4 also tells us that when we are baptized that we are buried with Him in death and as He rose, we shall do likewise. We baptize in Jesus' name because it is the "name" (singular) that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 28:18-20 and the name that is referenced in Acts 2:38, Luke 24:47, and in Acts 19 as well as various other places in scripture.

Earnestly Seek the Holy Ghost:

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..." Acts 1:8.

The Holy Ghost is the comforter that Jesus spoke of in scripture. The Bible teaches us that it is this Spirit that seals the believers for the day that Christ will come and redeem us. The Bible ask teaches us that if we don't have the Spirit of Jesus Christ - then we don't belong to Him (Romans 8:9). Receiving the Holy Ghost is not necessarily automatic after a person says they believe. But He comes when our hearts are fully ready to receive Him. This is the promise that Jesus spoke of in Acts 1:8. As we spend more time focusing on God and His purpose in our lives, He will begin to indwell our hearts and lives and give us power from on high.

Do the Will of God:

To confess to be a believer in Christ and to live for Him are two distinct things. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 that not everyone that confesses Him will get into heaven. Instead, He said it is the ones who do the will of God. As we live day by day, and as we walk in the Spirit of God, we should continue to seek His will for our lives.
